Senior Female Executive At Toyota Arrested For Smuggling Drugs In Japan?


According to news from CNN, the first western woman to be named a senior executive at Toyota, Julie Hamp, has been arrested in Japan after allegedly importing Oxycodone.

She was arrested yesterday for violating the Narcotics Control Act, according to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police. She allegedly used an international parcel service to import Oxycodone, a painkiller which is categorized as a narcotic in Japan.

Julie Hamp became Toyota's Chief Communications Officer in April, and had previously worked for General Motors and PepsiCo.

Meanwhile, Scott Vazin, a company spokesman says she will co-operate fully with the investigation as she never intended to violate any law.
