Volkswagen Offers Customers $1,000 After Emissions Cheating Scandal?

Its been about 2 months since the news broke about the emission scandal of auto giant, Volkswagen and they are finally settling VW car owners with cash.

According to reports by CNN Money, they will be paying $1000 to VW car owners affected by the emission hitch but for many owners, this gesture is too little, too late.

Some of them who spoke with CNN Money said it seems like a slap in the face and that it is an apologetic payout. Meanwhile half of the payout is supposed to come in the form of a gift card that can be used anywhere while the other $500 will be a card that can be spent only on purchases or services at VW or Audi dealerships, as well as free 24-hour roadside assistance for the next three years.

Speaking on this development, the head of Volkswagen U.S. operations, Michael Horn, says this is just the first step towards regaining their customers' trust. However, New York attorney general, Eric Schneiderman, in a statement issued on Monday, said this does not reduce the seriousness of the deceptive practices and environmental harms that are the subject of the states' investigation.
