It is definitely not good news for those women who sell the local alcohol around motor parks as the Federal government has officially banned the consumption of local gin popularly known as Ogogoro.
This is due to the reports of deaths of quite a number of people after consuming the alcoholic drink. The unexplained deaths from Ogogoro first started in Ondo state, a few months ago and just recently about 38 people have died in Rivers state after consuming the local gin.
The announcement of the ban was made by the DG of the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control, NAFDAC, Paul Orhii.
