In recent times the disease Cancer has come to be a major killer of both men and women. Infact last year I personally knew about 8 people that died of different types of Cancer so there is truly a need for people to have an awareness of this disease.
Meanwhile this month of October is actually Breast Cancer Awareness month and different organisations have been doing their bit to sensitize people about this disease and Genevieve Magazine is one of them.
Yesterday night was the third edition of the Genevieve Pink Ball, held to help make a difference by creating awareness about breast cancer as well as providing support to
patients medically and financially towards the prevention and treatment
of breast cancer.
It held at the beach front event centre, The Dorchester located at 288 Ligali Ayorinde Street, VI and of course people from all walks of life turned up gaily dressed( I think I lost my invite somewhere in the mail...LOL)
There was a showcase of collections from Nigeria’s top designers,
Lanre Da Silva and Mai Atafo with male and female celebrity models
taking to the runway like Seyi Shay, Osas Ighodaro, Eku Edewor, Dakore
Akande, Banky W, Lynxx, Chris Attoh, Julius Agwu to mention a few.
However for me, the highlight of this event was the 100 Patient Challenge initiative where interested individuals adopt a Breast Cancer patient and help raise funds to cover medical expenses needed for their treatment.
