The first ever trial of a Catholic Archbishop on child abuse charges, will kick off today at a Vatican City court.
66 year old Jozef Wesolowski, is a former Polish archbishop who was the pope's former ambassador to the Dominican Republic.
He has been accused of sexually abusing minors during his 2008-13 stint as the Vatican ambassador and in addition to this, he is also accused of possession of child pornography during his time as papal nuncio to the Dominican Republic.
2 years ago, the Vatican said they were investigating the allegations and removed him from the post before finally defrocking him last year.
However, there are recent reports that he will not be attending today's session as he was placed in intensive care few hours before the trial.
