To assist widows in Jigawa state, Governor Muhammed Badaru has launched a goat breeding and rearing micro-credit programme.
In a statement signed by the Special Assistant on Media to the Governor, Bello Zaki yesterday, the scheme would provide 3 goats including a male and two female per widow, while 20 people would benefit from each of the 287 wards in the 27 Local Government Areas of the state.
According to the terms of the loan, 18 months after collecting these goats, the beneficiary would return 3 goats back to the government as there should be at least 12 goats at the end of the loan period.
