Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the son of deposed leader Muammar Gaddafi has been sentenced to death in a court in Libya.
According to reports from BBC, Saif and 8 others were sentenced to death over war crimes linked to the 2011 revolution.
He was not present in court and gave evidence through a video link as he is being held by a former rebel group from the town of Zintan that refuses to hand him over.
Saif al-Islam is also wanted by the International Criminal Court on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity and prosecutors say that he was part of his father's plans to squash civilian demonstrations against the Gaddafi regime.
However, Saif al-Islam will be given the right to appeal against the death sentence.
