Oh yes! the Supreme Court has delivered a supposed historic victory for gay rights today in the U.S with a ruling 5 to 4 that the constitution requires that same-sex couples be allowed to marry no matter where they live and that states may no longer reserve the right only for heterosexual couples.
In other words, the court now holds that same-sex couples may exercise the fundamental right to marry and that liberty can no longer be denied to them.
Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote in the majority opinion and was joined by Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen G. Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan.
The U.S. is now the 21st country to legalize same-sex marriage nationwide.
