Nigerian Musicians Get 90 Million Naira Royalties From COSON

It was indeed a great Christmas gift for musicians of all generations in Nigeria yesterday as they gathered together to share 90 Million Naira from the Copyright Society Of Nigeria, COSON.

Artistes like Dan Maraya Jos, Chris Ajilo, Laolu Akins Majek Fashek, OJB Jezreel, Azeezat, Black O’ Rice, Kenny St Best among others, were present at the Oranmiyan Hall of Lagos Airport Hotel.

Speaking at the event, COSON Chairman, Tony Okoroji said this amount is an 80% increase from the sum of 50 Million Naira which the society distributed in 2013.

This will be the 4th time since its approval in 2010 that COSON has lived up to its mandate in ensuring that musicians are being adequately compensated with what is due to them.
