NAFDAC Set To Prosecute Doctor Who Claims Ewedu Can Cure Ebola

With the Ebola scare in the nation, all sorts of unverified preventive and curative treatments have been suggested from using salt to take a bath, eating bitter kola down to eating native vegetable, Ewedu.

This Ewedu claim was made by a Nigerian Professor of Ophthalmology at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, Prof Bukola Oshitelu and the National  Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has come out to say they will arrest and prosecute him for this false declaration.

There has also been a sudden influx of different brands of hand sanitizers and the Agency has seized 104 different brands and arrested 3 Nigerian businessmen for alleged importation of expired hand sanitizers and fake Ebola test kits into the country.

Confirming this, the Director General of NAFDAC, Dr. Paul Orhii said Nigerians have gone through a lot of psychological trauma in the last couple of weeks and fraudulent claims by people like the professor is a national embarrassment.

Dr Orhii says anybody who claims to have a cure for Ebola should come to NAFDAC, the Ethics Committee or the Treatment Research Group set up by the Federal government for verification rather than misinforming the public.

He also warns that NAFDAC will immediately arrest and prosecute any Nigerian making such unverified claims as that could mislead the public
