There are positive indications that graduates of the National Open University of Nigeria, NOUN, will be allowed to participate in the National Youth Service Corps Scheme, NYSC, and the Nigerian Law School Programme anytime soon.
According to reports from News Agency of Nigeria, NAN,this was made known by the Director, Ilorin Study Centre of NOUN, Michael Abikoye, in an interview recently. He was the first acting registrar of NOUN and said their initial exclusion was due to public misunderstanding of the difference between Open and Distance Learning and part time studies.
He however expressed optimism that there are ongoing talks between the management of the Open University and the relevant stakeholders so NOUN students can be absorbed into the scheme.
