Pope Francis Warns Church On Discrimination Against Catholics Who Divorce & Remarry

The issue of divorce and remarriage in the Catholic church has been frowned at for a long time. According to the tradition of the Catholic church, divorcees who marry again are 'living in sin' and should not receive communion but those who divorce but do not remarry, can still receive Communion.

However in a recent development, Pope Francis is warning the church not to discriminate against Catholics who remarry and their children, saying they deserve better treatment.

According to reports, the Vatican is set to hold a month-long meeting on family issues in the church and the Pope hinted that the taking communion ban against divorcees who remarry might someday be lifted.

He made it known that people who remarry are also not to be excommunicated. Although he acknowledges the Catholic church rule that remarriage after divorce is wrong, he says the church must be of  open doors and should seek the well-being and salvation of people.
