One Year After, Borno State To Re-open Schools Closed Due To Boko Haram

Over a year after schools were closed in Borno state, following the attacks of Boko Haram, the Borno State Government is planning to re-open them.

According to reports from This Day newspaper, the State Governor, Kashim Shettima, has constituted a 13-man committee to work out the modalities for their reopening.

Meanwhile most of these schools are currently accommodating internally displaced persons, IDPs, from all parts of the state which has made it difficult for classes to hold for over a year now.

In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Usman Jidda Shuwa over the weekend, the committee has 3 weeks to submit its report to the government, after which an action would be taken on the reopening of the schools.
