One of the top bloggers in Nigeria, Linda Ikeji, has put her money where her mouth is by sponsoring 15 young ladies with over 5 Million Naira to start their own business!
Although I don't know Linda one on one asides the fact that I gave herself and sister, Laura Ikeji a bedspace when I was Hall chairperson of Newest Hall 2 in Unilag years ago, I think she has indeed done very well for herself and paid her dues, so she has a right to spend her hard earned money any way she wants.
Sometime last year she announced that she wants to start helping young ladies start their own businesses rather than rely on men to support them and set aside a 10 Million Naira grant.
She has finally kicked it off and will be spending over 5 Million Naira on 15 girls who were shortlisted from about 50. The lucky beneficiaries of the 'Linda Ikeji I'd Rather Be Selfmade' project got between N600,000 and N150,000 Naira each!
Linda has also promised to use her blog platform to help push and support their business with a promise to invest more if she sees that the business is going well and they are really dedicated and serious about succeeding.
