Despite the fact that Nigeria hasn't recorded any polio case in the past one year, Arabian country, Qatar, has banned Nigerian travelers who don't have a valid polio vaccination certificate from entering their country.
According to reports, a statement by the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, said the Department of State Service, DSS, drew its attention to a report that Qatari authorities had resolved to ban all Nigerian citizens travelling to the country without valid certificate of vaccination against polio. The report said the ban was a precautionary measure to guide against the spread of the disease in that country.
Speaking on this development, the permanent secretary of the FCT, John Obinna Chukwu , urged stakeholders and intending travelers, on the need to obtain duly signed and stamped yellow book on polio and other communicable diseases to avoid embarrassment at the port of entry into the country.
