President Buhari has made it known that he would not be removing the fuel subsidy for now as his administration has to handle the issue with care.
According to a statement by the Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, this was the conclusion reached after receiving a briefing from the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, and other agencies in the oil sector.
The president said he has received a lot of submissions on the need to remove fuel subsidies but that he was still carefully reviewing them as to the way forward and has promised to deal decisively with all identified problems in the oil and gas sector.
Unfortunately, long queues are returning to filling stations nationwide as fuel scarcity looms and black market boys are all over the place.
