In what I will like to call "after the death of Christ", the woman, Jane Birkin, who inspired the world's most exclusive and expensive handbag ranges, now wants her name taken off a crocodile-skin model.
According to reports from CNN, the British actress is concerned about the cruel manner used to kill the crocodiles and make the bags.
This is because last month, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, PETA, released a video of crocodiles and alligators being killed in a crude manner on a farm and their skins used to make Hermes bags and watch bands.
However, the company said it was shocked by the images and deny that the farm belongs to them, or that the skins from the farm are used to make their Birkin bags. They said an investigation is underway at the Texas farm which was implicated in the video and any breach of rules will be rectified and sanctioned.
They are yet to confirm if Jane Birkin's name will be scrubbed from its crocodile handbags.
The first Birkin bag was designed nearly 30 years ago, and remains much in demand as a fashion accessory with prices for the crocodile-skin versions starting from $30,000 and above.
