The 2015 BET Awards which is one of hip-hop, and black media's biggest nights has finally come and gone and boy was it an interesting night with people like Diddy falling off stage while performing and Chris Brown turning up in a flowered jacket!(LOL)
Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Beyonce and Lil Wayne led the nominations in the network’s 15th annual show and Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross were the hosts of the night at the Nokia Theatre.
Unfortunately no Nigerian took home any awards this year, better luck next time but the red carpet didn't disappoint as we had the good, bad and what were you thinking kinda dressers.
So many celebrities came strutting their personal style and in all it was indeed a pleasant event.
Rapping on top of a police car with a large American flag waving behind him, hip-hop prince Kendrick Lamar kicked off the BET Awards with a dose of seriousness, but also brought a fiery energy thanks to his charisma and his song’s beat.
Rapper Diddy fell during an exciting performance celebrating Bad Boy Records’ 20th year anniversary with Lil’ Kim, Mase, Faith Evans, 112. He fell into a hole that was used by Lil’ Kim to make her entrance but he soon recovers, with fans offering a helping hand. Meanwhile, a video montage of rap king Notorious BIG played in the background as his verse from Mo Money Mo Problems played.
Janelle Monae and Jidenna also brought a serious vibe to the stage when they performed Classic Man: The singers and their background dancers wore large “I’m a Classic Man” signs around their necks, a reference to the historic “I Am a Man” civil rights era protest sign.
Nicki Minaj, who won her sixth consecutive best female hip-hop artist award, brought her mother onstage and gave a shout-out to fellow nominee and rising rapper DeJ Loaf, as well as her rapper-boyfriend Meek Mill, who sat next to her at the show.
Below is a comprehensive list of the winners of the night.
