Much Ado About Nigerian Elections....Will It Still Hold Come March?

With all sorts of allegations going around about the upcoming elections, one begins to wonder if indeed it will eventually hold come March 28th as planned.

There had been reports that INEC has plans to use card readers for the elections to help prove authenticity of the PVCs that will be presented that day. However, there are indications that the Presidency and the PDP are not down with that idea and are already looking at the possibility of mobilising Nigerians to demand that the use of card readers for the election be stopped.

According to a former National Chairman of the PDP, who is now a chieftain of the APC, Audu Ogbeh, there are signs that the PDP is not interested in holding the elections but will rather foist an interim government on Nigeria.

A source in the Presidency, who spoke on condition of anonymity with a Punch newspaper correspondent,  said that both the Presidency and some members of the National Working Committee of the party have been asked to condemn the use of the card readers for the elections.

They also want INEC allow Nigerians, use the Temporary Voter Card instead of the Permanent Voter Card for the election.

Meanwhile, the reason given is that they are not comfortable with the card readers as nobody seems to know how it works which raises the question of what happens if it fails to work.

On the part of INEC, the  card readers are to help  verify the rightful owners of PVCs and eliminate impersonation as well as voting by proxy during the elections.

Please.....which way Nigeria?
