With the Governorship elections now shifted to the 11th of April, the two leading governorship candidates in Lagos State, Jimi Agbaje of PDP, and Akinwunmi Ambode of APC, have signed a Peace Pledge.
They signed the pledge yesterday committing themselves to non-violence during and after the election at the official residence of Jeffrey Hawkins, the United States Consul-General in Lagos, in the presence of the U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria, James F. Entwistle, as well as some Nigerian religious leaders.
I just hope they relate this Peace Pledge message to their supporters and campaign team as some of them actually resort to violence during campaign rallies.
