Buhari Publicly Denies Allegations Of Plans To Islamise Nigeria As He Gets Bible Gift From Religious Group

There have been allegations that the APC presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari has plans to impose Sharia in Nigeria and turn it into an Islamic state.

He is publicly denying such claims and says nobody can impose such on Nigerians since the country’s constitution does not permit a state religion.

Buhari made the assertion when he met with some northern pastors under the aegis of Northern Christian  Leaders Eagle-Eyes Forum yesterday in Abuja.

He also made it known that contrary to the views of detractors, he is not a religious fanatic of any sort and  would never support religious extremism.

He said although he has been a devout Muslim, he has never belonged to, nor shared the views of any extremist group. According to him, the role of government is to protect lives and property of citizens and to respect and protect their constitutional rights.
Meanwhile, the highlight of the meeting  was the handing-over of a copy of the Holy Bible to Buhari as a symbol of fraternity and support by the pastors for his quest for election as president.
