Despite the audio released recently by Sahara reporters alleging that the Ekiti state election was rigged, the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has upheld the victory of Ayodele Fayose of PDP, as the winner of the election held in June 2014.
The appellate court upheld the judgment of the election tribunal which had earlier dismissed the petition written by the APC challenging Fayose’s victory.
However, the appeal court said the military shouldn't have een deployed for the election as it was a breach of law for the military to play a role in the electoral process.
Meanwhile, the tribunal had earlier dismissed APC’s petition on grounds that they were unable to provide concrete evidence to support the claims of corrupt practices at the polling units.
