After Winning 2015 AFCON, Kolo Toure Announces Retirement From International Football

Liverpool player and Ivory Coast defender, Kolo Toure has officially confirmed that he will not be available for selection any longer.

He makes this announcement less than a week after he and his team mates won the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON in Equatorial Guinea.

Kolo Toure said it was a very difficult decision to take as he loves his country but it has come to that point where he has to stop.

He also went ahead to introduce his successor, Ousmane Viera Diarrassouba, who he said is the new boss of the defence.

Since his debut with the Elephants in 2000, the 33 year old has earned more than 110 international caps. The former Arsenal and Manchester City centre-back also played at the 2002, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2015 AFCON, as well as at the 2006, 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups finals.
