The 18th edition of the Nigeria Polytechnic Games, NIPOGA, has seen Yaba College of Technology, YABATECH, emerge winners with 34 medals!
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, YABATECH won 17 gold, 8 silver and 9 bronze medals to emerge overall winners of the games which was tagged BIDA 2014, after its host, the Federal Polytechnic, Bida.
Coming close in 2nd position was The Polytechnic Ibadan which secured 14 gold, 5 silver and 11 bronze medals. Abia State Polytechnic Aba came 3rd with 11 gold, 4 silver and 7 bronze medals.
This victory marks the 7th time YABATECH is winning the event, making them the most successful school in NIPOGA history.
Their previous wins were at Yaba ’85, Bauchi ’90, Nekede ’92, Kaduna ’99, Auchi 2003 and Yaba 2001.
Meanwhile, the Rector of the institution, Dr. M.K. Ladipo, has congratulated the school’s contingent for making them proud and says YABATECH is an institution where students excel in academics and sports.
