I know you are not a stranger to drinking bottled water but the fact is that a whole lot of Nigerians (myself included) also take sachet water popularly called 'pure water'.
The truth is they come in different sachet sizes and names and sometimes the names are very questionable not to mention the taste of some of them(Lol).
In line with this, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, is undertaking a nationwide laboratory test of various brands of water in circulation to ensure they are fit for human consumption.
They are carrying out this exercise in conjunction with acclaimed independent international consultant, Emani Global Network Limited, EGNL.
This is to also curb the rising issues bordering on water borne diseases in the country although packaged water manufacturers in the country are already afraid of the outcome.(I wonder why though)
So far, it has been observed that more than 85% of packaged water manufacturers in the country have no mini laboratory in their factories which is actually one of the requirements to ensure 100 per cent analysis of water before it goes into the market.
Also, some of the water producers in the state are using other companies’ brand names to package their water which according to NAFDAC is wrong.
Already, the test has been done in some states including Nasarawa, Edo, Delta, Lagos, Akwa Ibom and the Federal Capital Territory ,FCT, Abuja.
