Should there be a national day for Thanksgiving in Nigeria? According to the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu has recommended that Enugu State and Nigeria should dedicate a day annually for thanksgiving and prayers for peace and prosperity.
He made this known during the annual thanksgiving service organized by Aninri local Government Council of Enugu State, where he comes from.
According to the Senator, since the inception of this thanksgiving and prayer service, positive massive infrastructural developments started coming up in the area
He gave an instance of the United States setting aside a day yearly for thanksgiving which is why they have remained the World’s most progressive Country.
Bottomline of all this is that any opportunity for a public holiday is always welcome in Nigeria.
