Major Disappointment As Super Eagles Lose Chance Of AFCON 2015

Football continues to be one major sport that Nigerians irrespective of age, gender and status, usually come together to enjoy. It is not unusual to see Nigerian football fans extend their love for the game even to their foreign teams so you can imagine how disappointed they must be for failing to qualify for the AFCON 2015.

What even hurts the more is the fact that Nigeria is the reigning champion of the last AFCON 2013 in South Africa. The match was played at the newly commissioned Akwa Ibom stadium where Tokelo Rantie scored against the Super Eagles in the 42nd minute.

Tokelo Rantie had put the South Africans 2-0 up with a goal in either half of the game but Sone Aluko leveled the scores on the 68th and 90th minutes to put Nigeria back in the game but it was all in vain as the game ended 2-2 but Congo defeated Sudan to take second place in Group A thus moving us down the charts.

Meanwhile, Ghana beat Togo 3-1 yesterday to qualify for the AFCON 2015  as winner’s of Group E with goals from Abdul Majeed Waris, Mubarak Wakaso and an own goal scored by Sadate Akoriko handed the Black Stars the sweet victory.
