CAF President Explains Why AFCON 2015 Cannot Be Postponed Despite Ebola Scare

Following the disqualification of Morocco from the African Cup Of Nations, AFCON 2015 by the Confederation of African Football, CAF, the President of CAF has stated the reason why the tournament can not be postponed despite the Ebola scare in some African countries.

Issa Hayatou, claims that postponing the event would hurt their sponsors and partners and also hurt CAF's credibility which would be a 'death warrant' on the federation. He said postponing the event would also make it possible for people to be asking for delay of competitions which is not acceptable by CAF.

He also said it would be detrimental to African football as CAF is the pride of all Africans and it has taken 57 years to build it to this level.

A new host is expected to be named within days and Angola, Egypt, Gabon and Nigeria are the countries being suggested as possible replacements.
