Iconic Fashion Designer Oscar De La Renta Dies At 82

Iconic fashion designer to the stars, Oscar de la Renta died yesterday at the age of 82. There are indications that he died from cancer which he had been diagnosed with since 2006 but the cause of death is yet to be officially revealed. 

He was a favorite of movie stars and First Ladies which included Nancy Reagan, Betty Ford, Laura Bush, Hilary Clinton and even Michelle Obama who wore one of his dresses for the first time to a cocktail party following a White House Fashion Education Workshop that she hosted.
De la Renta's gowns stand out for always being elegant and original and his signature looks were voluminous skirts, exquisite embroideries and rich colours.
Despite his age, Oscar de la Renta worked right up until his death, and held his most recent show at New York Fashion Week on the 9th of September and even made the dress of actor George Clooney's wife Amal Alamuddin  which she wore on her wedding day on the 27th of September.
