I honestly don’t know why some Liberians seem bent on ‘importing/exporting’ the dreaded Ebola virus outside their country. Recall that it was a Liberian, Patrick Sawyer that brought the first case of Ebola into Nigeria when he came to Lagos in July.
Well, another Liberian, Thomas Duncan is now responsible for the first Ebola case in the US after traveling there to visit his girlfriend and family in Texas. He allegedly lied on an airport form which asked if he had come into contact with anyone suffering from Ebola. Reports later indicated that he had actually helped carry a neighbor’s pregnant daughter who was dying from Ebola to the hospital in his country.
The Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital earlier reported that Thomas Duncan had come for treatment last Friday but was sent back home with antibiotics as they didn’t know he had been exposed to the Ebola virus.
His girlfriend Louise has now been quarantined with her 13 year old child and two
nephews, who came in direct contact with him. Some of their neighbors
including 5 children who attend area schools have also been quarantined
with parents pulling their children out of the schools even though the
schools have taken extra precaution by scrubbing and disinfecting the
environment.
Meanwhile, up to 100 people in Texas are believed to have had contact with Thomas since he developed symptoms of the deadly virus last week Thursday and the Liberian Government says it would prosecute him for lying as his actions are unpardonable
(hmnnn....that is if he survives the disease.)
