When we talk of terrorists, our minds often go to the religious radicals and extremists, however we have terrorists among us in the persons of child abusers and I am not talking about those that abuse children sexually which is just horrible. I am talking about those that mete out inhumane punishment on children either theirs or domestic help.
Another case has surfaced this week of one Mrs. Bethelyn Falade, who resides on Church Street, Powerline, in the Ijaiye-Ojokoro area of Lagos. She has been arrested and is currently facing charges for assaulting and torturing her housemaid, Chinecherem Sunday with hot water which according to her was an act to check the maid’s stubbornness.
She has been charged to court on two counts of maltreatment and assault and was admitted to bail in the sum of N250,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Yes, she is being punished but I want to appeal to people to please be very considerate in punishing domestic help. Let your motto be ‘Do Unto Others What You Want Them To Do Unto You’(and your children).
