While Nigeria continues to mourn the death of Dr Ameyo
Stella Adadevoh who treated the late Liberian,Patrick Sawyer who brought Ebola to
Nigeria, the reverse was the case in the US where two doctors who got infected
with the Ebola virus while treating patients in Liberia, fully recovered from
the disease and have been released from the hospital.
Dr Kent Brantly and Nancy Writebol were American
Missionary doctors who had been treating victims of the Ebola virus in Liberia
until they got infected with the disease and were evacuated from Liberia this
month, in a plane specially equipped with an isolation tent back to the United
States.
Before leaving the hospital, Dr Brantly walked
around the room at Emory University Hospital hugging staff members and shaking
hands. After that he spoke at a news conference stating how happy he was to be
alive and well and re-united with his family.
Unfortunately, Dr Adadevoh is dead but she
remains a hero because she made sure Patrick Sawyer did not leave the hospital
after he tried to escape. Imagine how difficult it would have been to trace
those who had contact with him. The disease would probably have spread beyond
control.
May her beautiful soul rest in perfect peace. Dr
Adadevoh is survived by her husband and son.
