The Thursday edition of the show Lights Out On radio was explosive! Many
people called in to talk about the lady that was HIV positive but is yet to disclose to the guy she has been dating for 8 months now.
In the midst of all these calls,a young man named Lekan called in as well and said
the lady was wrong for not being upfront with her boyfriend. Firstly, the guy's
voice was really deep and sexy and he sounded so confident in the way he spoke.(mesef dey trip!Lol)
He then went on to use himself as an example and said he meets so many
girls everyday who talk to him on phone and even get to like him but when they
meet him in person, they change their minds because he is on a wheelchair!!
Yup! This guy is crippled in his legs. He said initially,he
used to hide this fact but when he kept seeing the disappointment on ladies
faces when they meet him he decided to be upfront and tell them once they start
talking on phone.
Now, what is interesting is that immediately after Lekan called in so
many ladies started asking for his phone number!!! Infact while most of them
were like 'I just want to know him as a friend and nothing more because he
sounds very intelligent' two other ladies outrightly said they want to meet him
because they don't mind dating him!!!
This was indeed a wake up call for me which is why I decided to share
because at the end of the day being TRUTHFUL about who and what you are is
indeed the BEST thing to do.
You might feel like you are in a disadvantaged situation especially if
one is physically challenged in terms of being disabled e.g blind, deaf, crippled
etc but I want to encourage anyone in that situation to be CONFIDENT in who you
are!!!
Until Lekan said he was crippled and in a wheelchair I never even
knew...why? Because he spoke in a very confident manner even more confident
than some of us that have all our body parts functioning properly.
Infact it became a challenge of sorts on the show as many other young
guys were calling in to say they were jealous at the way ladies calling in were
tripping for Lekan(LOL)
However, the bottomline remains that you should ALWAYS be sincere and upfront about who
and what you are. Its either people accept and like you for that or they don't. Please
don't pretend to be who or what you are not.
I still continue to accept mails on relationship issues for general discussions and support at
