University Of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital Begins Investigation Of Death Of UNIPORT Student

The University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, UPTH, has commenced an investigation into the death of Nkechi Precious, a 200 Level Student of Uniport following protests by students.

The massive protest by the students was due to the fact that they claim Precious died as a result of negligence on the part of some staff of the Hospital.

According to reports, the young lady collapsed at her hostel bathroom and died after UPTH rejected her for lack of space, an action which led the Student Union to ask the university to define the relationship between the hospital and the institution.

Addressing the media on the position of UPTH, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Aaron Ojule says the authorities are looking into the circumstances that led to the death of the student and has promised that any staff found culpable will be punished according to the extant Laws of the civil service.
