My heart is full of joy at the news from the Lagos State government to restrict trailers/containers from plying the roads between the hours of 6am to 9pm daily.
However, the truth is this law has always been in existence but was just never enforced but with the recent increase in accidents and deaths from these vehicles, enforcement is now a MUST!.
Speaking at a meeting over the weekend with leadership of the various transport unions in the state, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Oluseyi Whenu urged them to ensure strict compliance and that offenders will be made to pay a heavy fine.
Hmnnnn...my question now is if we see anyone of them on the roads who do we report to and which officers will be liable for ensuring they comply? LASTMA or who?
