President Buhari Tells IG To Reduce Number Of Policemen To Dignitaries

President Buhari has ordered the Inspector General of Police, IG, Solomon Arase, to reduce the number of policemen attached to dignitaries, and redeploy all policemen withdrawn from that role to regular police duties.

This follows his earlier announcement of plans of the Federal Government to recruit about 10,000 new police officers. The president gave this new directive when he met with the Police Service Commission and the Ministry of Police Affairs.

He also assured Nigerians that the police would receive more funding and equipment under his administration while urging the force to ensure that the recruitment process is transparent and also look into the promotion of police officers to boost their morale.
