NNPC To Involve Communities In Safeguarding Pipelines?
There are indications that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, might settle for the option of community based policing to protect the vast network of oil and gas pipelines in Nigeria.
The Group Managing Director, NNPC, Ibe Kachikwu hinted this while hosting the Canadian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Perry John Calderwood at the NNPC headquarters in Abuja.
He said a lot of attention will be given to the incessant menace of pipeline vandalism and oil theft and the best way is to engage the host communities and inculcate in them the need to see the assets in their domain as their own.
