TransAsia Crash Report Shows Pilot Mistakenly Shut Off Good Engine!

Flying has never held any appeal for me but if I have no choice I just take it in stride and believe the pilots know what they are doing.

You can then imagine my shock when I came across this news on CNN about a pilot mistakenly shutting off the working engine when the other one lost power. His wrong decision cost 43 lives in the crash!

This is the latest report by Taiwan's Aviation Safety Council into the February crash which confirms that the captain of the ATR 72-600 turboprop aircraft did this mistakenly as his last words were "Wow, pulled back the wrong side throttle." seconds before the plane plunged into a river.

The report also showed that the captain had failed simulator training less than a year earlier, partly because he had demonstrated a lack of knowledge of how to respond to engine flameout at takeoff.
