Contrary to the prior directive by President Buhari that all military checkpoints across the country be removed, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has announced the restoration of military checkpoints back in the state.
He made this known yesterday saying that he already has the backing of the military high command for the restoration of military checkpoints across the state.
In a press statement signed by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Godwin Adindu, in Umuahia, the reason for the return of the military roadblocks is as a proactive measure in tackling the rising cases of kidnapping activities in the state and other criminal activities
