Former Akwa Ibom Governor, Godswill Akpabio Emerges Senate Minority Leader

There are reports that former governor of Akwa Ibom state and PDP senator, Godswill Akpabio, has been named the Minority‎ Leader of the Senate.

This was announced by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki today shortly after the federal lawmakers resumed from recess.

Akpabio was endorsed yesterday by the caucuses of PDP in the senate across the six geo- political zones. Although there are indications that his nomination is against the standing rules of the senate, which exempts first-term senators from holding principal positions.
