Can poverty really make a father sell his child? I came across this story in one of the dailies recently and I was just so sad.
Alledgedly, 29 year old Kanayo Awurum, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for selling his son for N450,000 in the Egbe, Ikotun area of the state.
He sold the 2 year old boy, to some middle-aged women. and reportedly lied to his wife, Kelechi, that one of the women was his relative in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and that the boy was going to live with her.
During investigation, Kanayo said one of his friends advised him to sell his child since his wife was already pregnant with another child.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, has confirmed the arrest, adding that investigations are till ongoing.
