Celebrating his first birthday outside office after 8 years as the Governor of Lagos state, Babatunde Raji Fashola remains boldly in the consciousness of many Lagosians as he turns 52 years old today.
Love him or loathe him, the fact still remains that he was instrumental to many positive developments in the state especially in his determination to change the attitude and orientation of the people of Lagos State towards rules regulations and the enforcement of law and order. An instance being when he made sure a solider that was caught plying the BRT lane paid the required fine.
During his tenure as governor, Fashola also recorded many achievements in several areas including provision of affordable housing for the people through the Lagos Home Ownership Mortgage Scheme ( Lagos HOMS) , construction of roads, the daring commencement of the Lagos Light Rail Project , development of public transportation system and the waterways and the waging of war against crime to mention a few.
He is so respected that former minister and Bring Back Our Girls activist, Oby Ezekwesili said if he ever decides to run for president of Nigeria, she will support him!
So far in the present administration, people have mentioned his closeness with President Buhari and are waiting to see if he will have any active position or office in the Federal Government.
