Is Xenophobia Extending To Nigeria? NANS Issues 7 Day Ultimatum To South African Government

With the continuous and repeated attacks on Nigerians living and doing business in South Africa, the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the South African government.

According to reports from This Day newspaper, they are warning the government to stop the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa or risk the closure of prominent South African investments like the telecoms giant, MTN, and Shoprite, among others which are operating in the country.

The warning is contained in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Nwankwo Ezekiel, alongside condemning the attacks.

Meanwhile, there are indications that Nigerians in South Africa, in spite of the attacks are not willing to be evacuated to Nigeria because of their jobs, businesses and the fact that some of them are married to South Africans.
