Oprah Winfrey's Legendary Office In Chicago Closing Down After 26 Years Of Operation

26 years after being in Chicago's West Loop, Oprah Winfrey's production company, Oprah Winfrey Network, OWN, will be moving out.

The 61 year old media mogul, who recently ranked 603 on Forbes' 2015 List of Billionaires, personally delivered the news to her staff in Chicago yesterday.

Just 2 months ago, OWN moved into a new three-story space called The Lot in West Hollywood, setting the stage for the shutdown of Harpo Studios in Chicago.

Speaking on this development, Oprah says she has spent more hours in the Chicago building than in any other building on earth and that it would be sad for her to bid farewell to her old home base.

However, she said it was time to time to consolidate her network’s operations under one roof. While they have stopped shooting shows for OWN as at this week, the office will officially shutdown in December.
