When the news made the rounds that a wicked nanny who brutally assaulted a child under her care in Kenya had been sentenced to jail, many people were happy at that judgement.
However the reverse is the case in Hong Kong as a mother of 2 children is the one being jailed for 6 years for maltreating her domestic help.
Law Wan-tung, has been jailed for 6 years for beating and starving her Indonesian maid, Erwiana, and keeping her prisoner.
According to the judge, she showed no compassion to her domestic staff and even went as far as punching her in the mouth, fracturing some teeth, jamming a metal vacuum cleaner tube in her mouth, cutting her lip and hitting her on the back with a feather duster when she was sleeping.
Al Jazeera reports that Erwiana had worked for Law Wan-tung for about 8 months, was not paid her salary and was not allowed any days off.
