Oyingbo area of Lagos now wears a new look as 24 years after its demolition, Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola has now inaugurated a newly rebuilt Oyingbo Market.
This new modernised market is rebuilt on its original site in Ebute Metta and now boasts of a four-floor structure with 270 lock up shops, 632 open shops, 48 open offices, 3 cold rooms, 1 fire service station, 66 parking spaces and 134 toilets.
According to reports, efforts to rebuild the market which has been in existence since 1938, has moved from one administration to the other.
Governor Babatunde Fashola while addressing the large audience consisting of market men, women, government functionaries and business stakeholders at the site of the new structure, said the new market being handed over was a promise he made in 2007 when he was seeking election as Governor.
