Good News!! Man Gets 15 Yr Jail Sentence For Raping 7 Yr Old Girl In Bauchi ~ BimzTheory

Its no longer news that child sexual abuse is on a high in Nigeria nowadays and we really need to create an awareness with our children so they can be safe. This is because prevention is definitely better than cure.

Its also good to know that the perpetrators of such dastardly acts are given the punishment they deserve. Recently in Bauchi, a middle-aged man, Adamu Abdullahi has been sentenced by the Bauchi State High Court presided by over by Justice Rabi Umar, to 15 years imprisonment for allegedly raping a 7 year old girl.

While this is great news, unfortunately in some parts of the country the aftermath of such events is actually the opposite. For 36 year old single mum, Sola Adebisi, her 8 year old daughter was raped by a security guard in Ikorodu and because she reported the case, she says she is being victimized by people in her area, including the police.

She made this known in an interview with Punch newspaper where she said one of the policemen told her to her face that "like mother like daughter".

According to her, she sent her daughter on an errand around the area where she sells food for a living but the girl didn't come back on time and when she went looking for her, the girl told her how the security, Baba Ijebu had sexually assaulted her.

Baba Ijebu actually confessed to the mother and said he did it only once (as if that makes it okay!) The mother reported to the police and that is where her nightmare begun.

So far, the police have told her to forget the case and settle with Baba Ijebu outside court. A Child Rights Activist, Esther Ogwu, has taken up the case but confirms that many families of victims complain about being treated unfairly by the police.

This is indeed a worrisome issue because it will indirectly allow these rapist and child abusers walk away free as people will outrightly stop reporting such cases when it occurs.
