Federal Government Says Nigeria Loses 1 Billion Naira Daily To Importation Of Rice

You will agree with me that rice is the most staple food in Nigeria and is eaten in most homes at least once or twice a week. 

This shows how much we eat rice this country and of course its a money spinner for people who sell the product. However, the Federal Government has disclosed that the country actually losses about 1 Billion Naira every day due to the importation of rice.

This was made known by the Special Adviser to the President on the New Partnership for Africa’s Development, NEPAD, and African Peer Review Mechanism, APRM, Fidelia Akuabata Njeze.

She revealed this at a one-day stakeholders’ forum on the establishment of the Nigeria/ECOWAS rice sector policy and regulation advocacy platform, in Abuja.
