Despite varying criticisms of new movie, Fifty Shades of Grey, it has become the highest money maker by racking up $265 Million Dollars in just one weekend.
The film had the best opening weekend of any February release in history beating out The Passion of the Christ which earned $83.8 Million when it opened in 2004.
Considering the fact that the film cost just $40 million to make, it’s already a huge profit-maker.
The movie which is an adaptation of a book of the same name is about billionaire Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) and his sadomasochistic relationship with college graduate Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson).
Coming in 2nd place was Matthew Vaughn's R-rated comic book adaptation Kingsman: The Secret Service with $41.8 Million.
3rd place went to The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water earning an estimated $30.5 Million. The movie, American Sniper took 4th position while Jupiter Ascending starring Mila Kunis comes in 5th position.
