Nigeria To Start Production Of Anti Retroviral Drugs Against HIV/AIDS

Nigeria is to start producing Anti Retroviral drugs towards the management of HIV/AIDS in the country. This is according to the United Nations programme on AIDS, UNAIDS, Country Director, Dr Bilali Camara.

While speaking in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, he said 4 companies will start production of the drugs which would help people living with HIV have access to treatment at a cheaper rate.

Dr Camara confirmed that these 4 pharmaceutical companies have been certified by the World Health Organisation (WHO) for the general manufacturing practices and that Africans would benefit from this development as nobody is producing the drugs in this region.

The anti retroviral drugs can help anyone with HIV live on treatment for 15-30 years.
